E. B. Du Bois<\/a>. Niyi Afolabi draws out the intermingling influences of <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Yoruba_culture#Philosophy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Yoruba<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Greek_mythology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Classical Greek mythologies<\/a> in Brazilian representations of the carnivalesque <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Black_Orpheus\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Black Orpheus<\/em><\/a>, while his analysis of <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/City_of_God_(2002_film)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>City of God<\/em><\/a> focuses on the growing centrality of the ghetto, or <em>favela<\/em>, as a theme and producer of culture in the early twenty-first-century Brazilian urban scene.
