Ferguson<\/em><\/a> case has little competition for the title of Worst Decision in History. Now, 125 years after the shameful decision that codified the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mixedracestudies.org\/?p=4781\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jim Crow-era \u201cseparate but equal\u201d fiction<\/a>, the namesake of that famous case, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Homer_Plessy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Homer Plessy<\/a>, may be pardoned. The Louisiana Board of Pardons unanimously approved a pardon Friday, according to the <em>Associated Press<\/em>, sending it to <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/John_Bel_Edwards\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gov. John Bel Edwards<\/a> (D) for final approval.<\/p>\n<p>Edwards\u2019s press office said the governor was traveling \u201cbut looks forward to receiving and reviewing the recommendation of the Board upon his return.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When Keith Plessy, a descendant of Homer Plessy, heard the news, he felt like his feet \u201cweren\u2019t touching the ground.\u201d He and his friend Phoebe Ferguson, a descendant of the judge in the case, hopped in the car and were driving across <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/New_Orleans\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New Orleans<\/a> to the house of another friend \u2014 Homer Plessy biographer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/keith-weldon-medley-71228b3\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Keith Weldon Medley<\/a> \u2014 to share the news when they spoke with <em>The Washington Post<\/em>&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Read the entire article <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/history\/2021\/11\/12\/homer-plessy-pardon-ferguson-louisiana\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In the annals of the Supreme Court, the Plessy v.
