I have a lot of things to say, which I hadn\u2019t had the confidence to speak about.\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote>\n<p>After the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Murder_of_George_Floyd\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">murder of George Floyd<\/a>, and a renewed energy around the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Black_Lives_Matter\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Black Lives Matter<\/a> movement in 2020, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Adwoa_Aboah\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">[Adwoa] Aboah<\/a> found her conversations on her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gurlstalk.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gurls Talk<\/a> podcast getting \u201ca lot deeper. Everyone had so much to say, and everyone was going through such personal experiences, growth and sadness.\u201d It also led to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vogue.co.uk\/news\/article\/september-2020-issue-editors-letter\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">second Vogue cover<\/a>, this time alongside <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Marcus_Rashford\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Marcus Rashford<\/a>, shot in the footballer\u2019s garden in <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Manchester\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Manchester<\/a>, for an issue spotlighting \u201cfaces of hope\u201d. It was a huge moment \u2013 and one she almost turned down. At the time, Aboah says, she \u201cdidn\u2019t think it was my place to be that person. I think it\u2019s because I hadn\u2019t really delved into race and my feelings around it, and what I had been through. My mum\u2019s white, my dad\u2019s Black, and there had been a lot of confusion personally as to how I felt about it all. And, actually, it was great.\u201d There\u2019s a sense of gratitude in her voice as she describes \u201cchampioning the Black community \u2026 I\u2019m really happy that I did take that opportunity, because I am very much part of that community.
