Giddens was also nominated for Best American Roots Song for \u200b\u200b\u201dAvalon\u201d from <em>They\u2019re Calling Me Home<\/em>, which she made with multi-instrumentalist <a href=\"https:\/\/www.francescoturrisi.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Francesco Turrisi<\/a>. Giddens is now a 2-time winner and an 8-time nominee. On Wednesday, Giddens will also perform at <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Paul_Simon\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Paul Simon\u2019s<\/a> tribute concert \u201cHomeward Bound: A Grammy Salute to the Songs of Paul Simon,\u201d alongside <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Brandi_Carlile\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Brandi Carlile<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Brad_Paisley\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Brad Paisley<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Billy_Porter_(actor)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Billy Porter<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Dave_Matthews\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dave Matthews<\/a>, and Paul Simon himself.<\/p>\n<p>The Grammy award-winning album, released by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nonesuch.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nonesuch<\/a> last April, has been widely celebrated by the <em>NY Times<\/em>, <em>NPR Music<\/em>, <em>NPR<\/em>, <em>Rolling Stone<\/em>, <em>People<\/em>, <em>Associated Press<\/em> and far beyond, with <em>No Depression<\/em> deeming it \u201ca near perfect album\u2026her finest work to date.\u201d Recorded over six days in the early phase of the pandemic in a small studio outside of <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Dublin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dublin, Ireland<\/a> \u2013 where both Giddens and Turrisi live \u2013 T<em>hey\u2019re Calling Me Home<\/em> manages to effortlessly blend the music of their native and adoptive countries: <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/United_States\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">America<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Italy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Italy<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ireland\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ireland<\/a>.
