There has not been much engagement with the interrelations among such communities, nor with how the multicultural debates cross various national borders\u201d (Shohat and Stam 3). In the past decade, nevertheless, discussions of ethnicity and identity among U.S. critics frequently note the prominent multiethnic and interethnic relations among racial groups [1].<\/p>\n<p>In this paper, I build upon theories of multiethnicity and interethnicity in my examination of heterogeneity, hybridity, and multiplicity within the body we label \u201cAsian diaspora.\u201d In particular, my argument is focused on the realization and construction of the diverse identities of Asian diaspora living in contemporary America in the context of interracial relationships. I choose to analyze <em><span id=\"ms__id17\" style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight: bold;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mississippi_Masala\" target=\"_blank\">Mississippi Masala<\/a><\/span><\/em><span id=\"ms__id19\" style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight: bold;\"> (1991)<\/span> directed by <span id=\"ms__id16\" style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight: bold;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mira_Nair\" target=\"_blank\">Mira Nair<\/a> <\/span>and <em><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Wedding_Banquet\" target=\"_blank\">The Wedding Banquet<\/a><\/em> \u559c\u5bb4(1993)<span id=\"ms__id18\" style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight: bold;\"> directed by <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ang_Lee\" target=\"_blank\">Ang Lee<\/a> since <span id=\"ms__id15\" style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight: bold;\">interracial romance in both films functions as the primary plot.
